League Schedule
I know the other Commissioner won't love this topic, but I think it is worthy of discussion. But our offseason schedule is something I'd like to discuss. I am fine with what we have now, but I can't say it is so perfect we can't improve upon it. Just wanted to know how people feel what changes they might want.
Examples of what I'm looking for would be free-agency/league year start date, draft start date (aka make an official day to start every year), and anything else similar. Personally I am fairly indifferent about these dates...but would probably tend to want to start a tad later, if for no other reason to give us time to think of and pass rules like the tanking discussion or tag rules.
While were at it any discussion about possibly ways to make things easier is fine to add here. Always room for improvement right?

Re: League Schedule
I realize that we start earlier than the NFL does as far as free agency, so I think I'd be willing to start our free agency on the same day as the NFL, or close to it. I like the March 1st simplicity, but am open to moving the start of the year back if that's what the league wants. As an owner, I just get that itch around March every year

Re: League Schedule
I just need more than a month break from having to think about football. Why not wait until the NHL season is over to start the league year? Call it April 20 (4/20) every year.

Re: League Schedule
Another reason I am more than willing to push towards Josh's idea is if we wait til later say lat april or may 1st or something like along those lines it imo makes this league fill those super boring months better, seriously by the time our draft is usuall winding down we still have a month plus til preseason and we start to get any real football and that month is the worst part of my year lol. If we start the league in a way that gets us to the start of August we filled the boring part with our free agency and draft and then I can wach some preseason football...and be happy...football determines my happiness lol.
That said I am still rather indifferent and think early start has merit as well.
Side note I refuse to align it with the NHL season so May 1st would be my pick if that late...also people in this league might be a bit "busy" on 420...looking at you Tom lol jk.

Re: League Schedule
For this we could break it down into a few votes maybe one to keep it as it is or move the date in general to get it started.
Re: League Schedule
I vote 4/20. FA would be more competitive if it lasted a shorter period of time. Plus... I'll remember that.

Re: League Schedule
Sadly we can't move it super close to preseason (J-Stew was open for 4.5 months), June First is probaby the absolute lates I would feel close to comfortable with.
Re: League Schedule
I want to change my vote, I voted keep it the same but after reading the arguments for the change I would be okay moving it back. So I re-vote for the moving it back. I don't have much time and only skimmed the poll before taking the time to read after work.

Re: League Schedule
So I am pretty sure moving it will win the vote, but waiting for 6 official votes to avoid any bitching. I think the next step will be me asking everyone what their date would be...please don't say march 24th to be a jerk and have a weird day lol.
Re: League Schedule
Ok now that I am obviously on the losing side, here are my general thoughts:
-I would still like some semblance of Free Agency in place before our draft, this would mirror the NFL.
-If that means the draft gets pushed back a bit, I'm ok, but not happy with that. My reasoning is, drafting early favors those prepared, whereas drafting later gives those who under-prepare a chance to hear OTA, Rookie, and Camp news. As an owner, I feel I have an advantage in this area and would like continue drafting in June. As a commish, I suppose I can live with what the league decides, so long as it isn't too extreme
-I actually kinda like Brandon's 4/20 idea, it'd be a day easier to remember, and would give us a solid 6 weeks of free agency before drafting. Also can you imagine the bids he'll put in if Free agency started that day?

Re: League Schedule
I was leaning towards, May 1st, personally (I think 1st of the month is easy) but If everyone likes 420...
Re: League Schedule
Also things to consider (to preface, I am in favor of both of the following):
-Opening trading before Free Agency? Fantasy player values change in the offseason, especially as players change teams during NFL free agency, which begins in march.
-Moving our own Franchise tag deadline. This should probably still remain relative to our free agency start date

Re: League Schedule
IMO, the whole point of moving the start is to allow for an offseason, Opening up trading completely negates this benefit. I think this is a worse idea than letting Cat have total control over the rules in this league. Tags would likely be moved to a week or so before the new date.
