Franchise Tag.

How would people feel about a franchise tag rule. Pretty much I'm thinking take the top 4 contract amounts from the previous year, average them, then add 10%, and that's what you have to pay (1 year deal) Maybe even make it so you can't use the tag on the same person twice.

it says top 4 contracts from the previous year and everything is pretty much +10% as far as contracts so that would have to be added. It would be the top 4 contract amounts at that position not in general, to avoid any confusing on that front. so you wouldn't have to pay $80 for a TE if you wanted to tag one.

I love this idea! So, You average the top 4 player salaries at the position of the player you want to franchise and add 10% to that average amount. That will be the new, one-year price of the franchised player.

If we do this, it would have to be next year, correct? We would have to declare franchise tags before free agency begins....

yeah no way we can get this passed in time to matter this offseason. But hopefully by the end of next season. and yeah we'd have to pick a realistic day to have the tag in by, like February 20th or something.
